busts

this project was the most difficult i think.  We started out by molding the shoulders of our busts around a brick, then we worked our way up to eventually adding on the head. after shaving parts away, and adding more parts later, i finally ended up with how i wanted my bust to look. but it wasn't balanced correctly and feel face forward, messing up all my hard work.  So after i reconstructed the face i decided that he looked like he should be an Indian, so i painted his skin dark and added a headband, and put bright colors on his face and chest and feathers on his head.

Prints

this print project was by far my favorite and most loved project, we cut into a rubber surface called "easy cut" and we printed our first color (the light blues whites and pinks) then after we cut away everything we wanted to keep light blues. then i printed the yellow in the hair and the eyes, and continued the cutting process. printing onthe board was the most difficult, but i think it also paid off really well. I loved the prints and can't wait to start printing on the back

altered book

the three images shown above are part of our semester long project called the "altered book" we took old journals and painted, drew, cut, covered, glued, transferred, and altered these books.

finger painting

This project was my least favorite, it was difficult for me to chose the colors to blend them and to use my fingers to create movement but still have unity.  i cleaned it up a little more, by adding green to the face and red to the hair. either way im glad its done.

chalk plans and sidewalk chalk workshop

We divided up into teams and took a 4x4 square on the sidewalk and collaborated with our groups, to create a design (that we would also be using in art spark the next weekend) we had different ideas we wanted to use, like water, space and goats, then as we sat around the square we started planning out what we wanted, then after a quick sketch we colored in the mountains water, sand, tree, and sky to create our side walk chalk creation!

scanography

a hoby of mine is to dry flowers and collect peices of leaves and different plants i find outside. so for the scanography project i was planning on using the flowers to create a picture. Then i got the idea of using a CD case after talking to mrs. keofler after school one day. so i used the different parts of the CD and wrapped the plants around and inside them, and started scanning.

Filter

I took the photograph i had used in the photography unit, and added the filter labeled "textureizer"

Photography

For this project we had to take 3 photos that were subjects in a social issue.  My social issue was "finding yourself" as seen here with the model having a blank white face in 2 of the 3 photos.  These photos were fun to take and especially to edit. I started by taking my model to "Lake Pine" and we walked in the forest and out by the power lines. after i got the photos i took the photo that is shown last, and i colored the face white (except for the glasses) then i added textures and colors of blues and grey's to the photograph to give it an errie darker look.  For the top photo shown i mostly focused on the colors and added almost a stripe effect.  Then on the last one i took a tablet and drew flowers and leaves onto the photo, and colored out the subjects face. i then added colors and textures to the photo to give it a purple and grainy look, to add the feel of joy happiness and total bliss to the photo

colored enhanced scratchboard (opacity in photoshop)

After we finnished our scratchboards we were asked to paint them in photoshop using different colors brushes and most importantly opacities.  This project was fun and interesting, with the class look of mine i used the multiply setting on the layer, and colored in the bottles blue and green.

Scratch board

This project was one of my favorites.  we printed out a photograph that we had taken (mine obviously being glass bottles) and we scratched them into the board shown above.  The process was scary at first, because if you messed up there was nothing you could really do to fix it. However once i started scratching more and more away, it became easier to see the lightness and the darkness of the bottles, and how to make the glass to just the right amount of transparent.

Calligraphy

For our Calligraphy unit, we were asked to write out the alphabet with India ink and with a calligraphy pen. This unit was challenging to make every letter look the same and be spaced the same.  Using the pen and ink was also a challenge because if you had too much ink in your pen the ink would create pools on your paper. However after i got the hang of it, it began to become easier and easier to make my letters look more and more similar and evenly spaced.

original desighn letter, and colored one (in photoshop)

For this project we were asked to make a letter in our own "font" so i made a Giraffe spell out the letter G. when coloring it in in photoshop i ended up using a couple different layers and gradients to make the giraffe look colored and happy! (the top one being the final, and the bottom one being the original sketch and design.)

Museum sketching to understand scupture

we took a field trip to see the Rodin collection at the art mesuem, and these are some of the drawings we had to complete.  some where balance, light and shadow, movement, and contor.

Figure drawing and water colors.

This project was one of my favorites.  we had the opportunity to use many different colors and markers to draw different kids in our class. then we got to water color to help shade and add interest. i let the colors drip down and wiped some of the colors away to created different trails and to add artistic effect.
